Registration deadline is November 21, 2007.

- VEVA in conjunction with Canadian Electric Vehicles is pleased to offer an EV conversion course for members of VEVA. Details of the course offering are below. The course will be offered on a first paid first serve basis. There has been a fair bit of interest and we hope to fill the course this Wednesday evening. If you are interested please bring your cheque book.
- The purpose of offering the course is to provide VEVA members intent on doing their own conversion with the experience of having participated in a complete conversion to develop their ability and confidence to do so and to encourage them to do their own conversion and thus increase the number of EVs in VEVA. A second purpose is to increase the number of EVs in VEVA by selling the vehicle to a course participant or other VEVA member.
- Course Objective: Participants will demonstrate familiarity with the steps of completing an EV conversion using a proved kit by participating in a conversion and explaining each of the steps. They will also explain the purpose of each of the parts of an EV kit, and the reasons for the selection of each component.
- The course is open to VEVA members only on a first paid up basis.
- The course is open to a maximum of 10 participants and minimum of 8.
- The venue will be Canadian Electric Vehicles facilities in Errington.
- Instructor will be Randy Holmquist.
- The date will be two week-ends January 19-20, 26-27
- The glider will be a Chev S10 light truck.
- The conversion will be CEVs standard conversion kit.
- All participant labor is volunteer.
- A $300 course fee to cover course costs (insurance etc.) is payable in advance.
- A loan of $700 by each participant to fund the project, fully refundable on the sale of the vehicle.
- CEV will loan VEVA the S10 kit until the vehicle is sold. VEVA will make up any minor difference in initial costs as a contributing participant. VEVA will hold the funds until the vehicle is sold and will purchase and own the glider and batteries, arrange insurance for the vehicle and the course and transport to CEV.
- The finished EV will be auctioned in a silent auction to the VEVA membership with a reserve bid of project costs. Failing a completion, an auction on eBay with a reserve of costs, or failing that the S10 kit parts would be returned to CEV and batteries, glider and ICE sold and any losses subtracted from the participants loan. Profits of the sale will go to VEVA.
- In order to make the best use of time the course will focus on the installation so CEV will prep the truck by removing most of the ICE parts and pressure washing it. This would add about $500 of CEV labor to the project which would be payable by VEVA once the truck was sold.
- The participants will be provided with course manuals.
- Accommodation and meals will be the responsibility of each participant, but a group rate will be arranged with a local hotel in Parksville for Friday and Saturday nights of the course. (Travelodge est $100 / night / room)
- Advance time is needed to find and purchase an appropriate glider so a registration deadline of November 21 will be imposed.
- The eager participants will arrange a champion amongst themselves to organize and administer the course unless a VEVA executive member offers. (Don is away in Nov-Dec).
- If at least 8 participants have not paid by the registration deadline, the course will be canceled and all monies refunded.
